We ask the students to be creative and thoughtful in uploading responses to the daily prompts. These responses, while not limited to, could be pictures of things created, actions documented, favorite quotes, or quick video clips saying/doing something that supports the prompt. Feel free to work on your ideas ahead of time and upload them on the day of the prompt. Please name your files with your “(child’s name,)” and “Truth,” “Beauty,” “Goodness,” and “My Teacher,” on the appropriate day…i.e. “Joe Smith- Truth,” or “Joe Smith- My Teacher.”

  • Monday – Truth:  What’s a truth for you during this unusual time/experience away from school?
    • Examples: “I’m enjoying spending the day in my pajamas,” “I have done a lot of swinging,” or “I miss my friends.”
    • “One of the greatest gifts you can give anybody is the gift of your honest self.”-Fred Rogers
  • Tuesday – Beauty: What beauty can you see in this time/experience away from school?
    • Examples: “Spending a lot more time playing has allowed me to slow down and feel more like a kid,” “I’m spending a lot of time coloring and drawing, making beauty in works of art…I’ll upload an example,” or “Watching people take better care of one another.”
  • Wednesday – Goodness: What goodness have you seen or done during this time?
    • Examples: “We brought Easter dinner to an elderly couple a few doors down,” “Someone shared toilet paper with us when we couldn’t find any,” or “I’m helping my parents a lot with my siblings.”
    • “Imagine what our real neighborhoods would be like if each of us offered, as a matter of course, just one kind word to another person.”-Fred Rogers
  • Thursday: How or why does your teacher represent truth, beauty, and/or goodness?
    • Examples: “Your smile and words always make me feel loved,” “I appreciate when you hold me accountable for what I know is right,” or “I remember when you stopped our class in the hallway to check on a student that wasn’t your student who had tripped…that was kind and good.”
    • “If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to the people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person.”-Fred Rogers

Lastly, but most certainly not least, we’d like to show love and appreciation for the parents, who are wearing SO MANY hats right now! There is no school on Friday, May 8th, and we’d like to ask that the children make or do something to recognize and appreciate their parents/caregivers!

  • Friday: How or why does your parent/caregiver exemplify truth, beauty, and/or goodness? Please make something and share this with them.
    • “In the external scheme of things, shining moments are as brief as the twinkling of an eye, yet such twinklings are what eternity is made of — moments when we human beings can say “I love you,” “I’m proud of you,” “I forgive you,” “I’m grateful for you.” That’s what eternity is made of: invisible imperishable good stuff.” -Fred Rogers

Please remember to do this for ALL your teachers- lead teacher, assistant teacher, & specials teachers. You can use the same answers Monday-Wednesday, or different ones for each teacher if you’d like. (Obviously Thursday would be different for each teacher.) We will also have links for administration and other staff members and would encourage you to send images, notes, quotes, videos to anyone that has demonstrated or brought to you truth, beauty, and/or goodness!

We hope that these responses and reflections put us all in a place of appreciation and thanks (and possibly add a little humor,) in our very different and unexpected circumstance.

Wishing you health and happiness,

The Archway Chandler PSO
